First Impressions: Lumia 950 XL

So recently Microsoft showed off its new Lumia line, the 950 and the 950 XL. Currently I have a Lumia 1020, and I have a lot of questions when it comes to competition with the god power of my current phones camera. Well… the 1020 use to be the flagship phone of the Lumia series and is still one of the most sought after camera phones. Even now people are amazed by the pictures I am taking. Well with the new 950. I can say that the Lumia 1020 might be obsolete.

I wouldn’t say the 950 is the size of the 1520. It is between a 1020 and a 1520. It doesn’t feel like you are carrying around a tablet in your pocket. But it quite doesn’t feel like you are carrying around quite a tiny phone. It does feel however light, insanely light but it doesn’t feel cheap. Now the screen is gorgeous, it is beyond crystal clear, and is very responsive to the touch. However my gripe is that I wish it had a smaller bevel cause the phone removed the buttons and has them on the screen and I wish they would have increased the edging and had more screen.

Now I think one of the biggest things I do love about it is the speed at which it loads everything. It is mega fast, that probably cause it has a 8 core processor and 3 gigs of ram. This isn’t a low end phone like Microsoft has been putting out, this is without a doubt a flagship phone. I do love how there is a dedicated camera button that allows for quick access of the camera. Which on my 1020 takes quite a few seconds to start up. This was always instant. Press. Camera pops up and is ready to go.

The camera definitely shoots some pretty amazing pictures. I wish I could have kept them and had them sent to me but the demo unit was just a demo unit. The pictures are lighter, crisper and have way way more detail. Much more than the Lumia 1020. I don’t know if the pictures will shoot in RAW. I didn’t get to use that feature if there was indeed that feature.

I still have a few questions about the phone cause I didn’t get too long with it, like how is the multi tasking? What version of windows is running on this device? How does the duel sim feature work?

There are definitely some questions I have left, but overall I was very impressed with the phone after the short time I got with the device. I will probably be picking it up on AT&T. So when that happens you can expect a bigger review of the device.

See you space cowboy…
